Workshop
Cécile Fontaine
Date: Sat 30–31 May, 2026
Time: 10am – 5pm
Location: Acud Rooftop
Participation is limited to 15 participants
and pre-registration is required.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
This workshop proposes a direct engagement with film as material rather than image. Starting from a selection of found footage across different formats and origins, participants will produce a short piece through hands-on experimentation.
![]()
Working with uncinematic tools and unconventional procedures, the process moves away from established techniques toward an open field of trial and accident. Central to the workshop is the physical alteration of the film strip itself: emulsion is removed, displaced, and reworked, allowing the image to break down and re-form through gesture.

Rather than following predefined methods, participants are invited to suspend rules and work through exploration, testing how far the material can be pushed. The focus is not on producing a finished film in a conventional sense, but on engaging with film as a mutable surface—one that can be handled, interrupted, and reconfigured.
