Sensuous Light

In this program, film is exposed to what transcends it, moving between framing and being altered through encounter as a sensuous experience. Light unfolds as both expansion and form, opening the image while giving it shape, with matter, time, and contact leaving a residue, a trail of what eludes it. Its edge appears as a wound, where framing meets exposure, open to the unpredictability of the outside, a paradoxical threshold where encounter takes place: rather than fixing the world into form, film reveals its own limits through which the exterior emerges, unyielding in its silence.

COLORS FROM THE GARDEN

Based on research in plant chemistry and experimentation with plant-based developers, this project invites us to rethink the way colors can be produced on film. Throughout the changing seasons, we follow the plants as they are submitted to manipulations in the hands of the film's protagonists. Yet it is thanks to the plants' substance that the film reveals itself, in its various forms and hues.
Colors from the Garden begins by exploring the codes of documentary filmmaking, from the collective planting to the harvest. Then, visual and auditory links between the gestures of the dyeing workshop and those of the film laboratory create a kind of herbarium-color chart.
This film was made during a residency at Ensad Limoges as part of the Chromoculture creative research project, in collaboration with the Cinematheque of Nouvelle-Aquitaine.

A calling inhabits the blank pages, unfolding a secret writing of hers. The unseen written traces seep from the murmuring land, pushing through fragmented voices to become new forms, beings made material. Framed as a dialogue with my grandmother, this film
explores an alternative form of personal writing by Chinese women in political shifts, absent and abundant. The 'blank' becomes an image, carrying a search for agency; of land transformed and of women unheard. By breaking down linguistic structures, the film opens a space for imagining, reading, and performing, allowing for emergence.

A response to the 2022 forest fire on Monte Gambarogno, shot on 16mm and developed with the forest’s ashes. Each frame carries the material trace of the burned landscape, while layered sound evokes its transformation. A film of damage, persistence, and altered terrain.

When it falters—when it flickers—the forest shivers in response.
Stillness dissolves, and a soundless yet fierce motion awakens.
Perhaps the forest had long foreseen the restless tides of a shifting climate.
“The light of silence” is a tremor of foreboding— a quiet omen of the forest yet to come.
