»Carnivorous Apparatus«
36 min / 21st May / ACUD Cinema
21:35-22:10h

Strongly appealing to the bodily this corpus of works moves into painful (self-)examination both of the excavated and devoured bodies on screen and of the corporeality of the image itself. In correlation with retrograde filmic and videographic practices these bodies are constantly ruptured, collapsed and disintegrated eventually revealing the inherent hostile nature of filmic representation and reproduction. An aesthetic experience that intertwines these corporealities, the body of the filmmaker and the viscerally and somatically affected spectator.

Post-Panoptic Gazing
Michael Woods
11 min / 2015 / USA / German premiere

There is a syrup tasting carnivorous urge to conquer sexual ineptitude in overbearing glances and center the camera in the infinite void of consensual reflections of nothingness. But you will dance unlike you have ever danced before, with threads of everything you know, repackaged in metastatic digital packets of data rapidly going nowhere, blinking quickly into things outside the periphery of consciousness and knowledge, towards digital sickness that thirsts for absolution. Not even the rabid gnashing of your teeth can escape the banal. Better to grin at the costumes floating about and accept the perpetual post-Panoptic suspension.

The Garden of Delight
Michael Fleming
12 min / 2017 / The Netherlands, USA / World premiere

Three scenes reflecting on paradise, lust and hell.
In ‘the Garden of delight’ beauty and evil go together like in a dream. We dive into a world of erotic derangement, inhabited by dancing lovers, lustful mutated baboons, tropical birds, deformed pin-ups, butterflies and body-builders. This hand-manipulated collage film, made entirely out of 35 and 8mm found-footage, explores the marriage between heaven and hell, our irresolvable endless conflict that goes with human nature. (Inspired by the triptych ‘the Garden of Delight by Hieronymus Bosch.)
