PROGRAM/4

»Atlas«
41 min / 21st May / ACUD Cinema
19:00-19:45

Gathered around the notion of the Anthropocene this program visually maps and mediates geological tropes by rendering them architectural. Nature and culture, the human and the non-human, rural or urban landscapes, virtual and physical architectural models, digital networks and prehistorical geological systems are juxtaposted and intertwined.

An aviation field
Joana Pimenta
14 min / 2016 / Portugal, USA, Brazil / German premiere

"An aviation field in an unknown suburb. The lake underneath the city burns the streets. The mountains throw rock into the gardens. In the crater of a volcano in Fogo, a model Brazilian city is lifted and dissolves. Two people find each other in this landscape, 50 years apart."

Colossal Cave
Graeme Arnfield
11 min / 2016 / UK / Berlin premiere

»Somewhere nearby is Colossal Cave. Magic is said to work in the cave. I will be your eyes and hands. Excavated from the world’s largest cave system “Colossal Cave” is a love letter from the prehistory of the Internet. Retracing the production of a pioneering video game the film finds in its debris the blueprints of our contemporary digital network and the emotional remapping of the world. Compiled from amateur caving videos found online, these sources are relocated inside a history of geological representation, adaptation and redistribution.«

STELLA 50.4N1.5E
Elsa Brès
15 min / 2016 / France / Berlin premiere

A sea of dunes. An unpopulated seaside resort. Hands putting together a heap of documents. The landscape is an architecture.
